SOMEDAY begins TODAY! (Thanks to Sam Horn for her inspiring book Someday is NOT a Day of the Week.)
Jim and I love a good road trip. We married in November of 1997 and our honeymoon was a 3-week drive from Florida to the Southwest. We ate beignets in New Orleans, steak in Texas, tacos in Arizona, and burgers and peanut butter malts at the Owl Cafe in Albuquerque. We love a good road trip AND a good meal.
Over the past 20 plus years of our marriage, we’ve promised each other we’d do it again. Someday. When we have the money. When we have the time. When my business really takes off. (Regardless of how much it grows, I’ve learned there is ALWAYS a new version of it REALLY taking off.) We want to go back to the Southwest and visit all of the places in the USA (and some in Canada) we couldn’t visit on that trip.
Instead, I have traveled all over this country, meeting wonderful people and having amazing experiences, but almost always leaving Jim and the dogs behind and not really spending as much time, because I prefer to rush home to them.
Recently, it occurred to me. Jim is retired and I travel for business and can do my office work from anywhere. Today could be someday.
I broached the subject with Jim. “What would you think about living in an RV full time for a year or two and traveling together while I work?” Without hesitation, he was on board.
So here we are, planning our red carpet road trip and getting ready for full-time RV living. Our goal is to hit the road by December of 2020, hopefully spending Christmas in Florida with my family.
“But you LOVE Asheville,” you might be thinking. YES we do! Asheville will still be our home base and we’ll be in and out of it throughout the year, and we plan to buy or build our dream log cabin home a couple of years after our epic journey. But, for now, we’re taking red carpet on the road and I’ll be speaking, training, and storytelling all over the country with Jim, Moxie, and Tonks by my side.
There’s a LOT to accomplish between now and December 2020, and I’ll be sharing it all with you on this blog. Enjoy our journey and perhaps you will be inspired to begin your own someday!
Here’s the link to the blog. The first post explains the 10 goals we must achieve before hitting the road. I’ll be writing about those as we get road-trip-ready.
