A New Series to help improve your employee training:
Hey everyone! We’re starting a new series on our blog called Chris’ Employee Training Tips. Each month, our Countess of Curriculum, Chris Perillo will bring you actionable ideas to ensure your employee training is as effective as it can be.
Lights! Camera! Action! aka Check, Check, Double Check!
There is nothing more unnerving than your equipment not working! It’s not a matter of if; it is a matter of when. This happens to even the most experienced trainers and with a little forethought and action, you can offset the inconvenience and be relaxed and ready before your session begins.
Tip 1: If at all possible, set up for your employee training the night before. This will give you plenty of time to make those last minute adjustments and address any equipment issues. Bonus! Setting up the night before will give you peace of mind for a good night’s sleep (you’ll need it!).
Tip 2: Be sure to arrive at least 90 minutes early (I like 2 hours) to set up. Then, if your equipment is not working, you have time to solve the problem and be able to go over your plan so that you are relaxed and able to roll out the red carpet for your participants!
Tip 3: When all else fails (equipment wise) and the show must go on… Be prepared with printouts of your PowerPoint presentation. This, of course, is not optimal but take a deep breath, you’ve got this:)!
What questions do you have about employee training? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll address it in a future tip!
